Puri: Kudos to the efforts of three lifeguards, another person was saved from drowning in the sea at pilgrim town Puri on Tuesday.
Reportedly, Raja Sahoo of Sikharchandi under Infocity police limits in Bhubaneswar was taking a bath at the sea when he was swept in by the strong current.
Alert lifeguards - Lalat Behera, G Jagdish and G Babaji - immediately jumped into action and dragged him out of the water with the help of a tube.
As Raja had gulped down some salty seawater, he received preliminary treatment and was returned to a stable condition.
It is worthwhile to mention that, lifeguards at Puri have saved many lives earlier. As per available data, a man from Raigarh in Chhattisgarh was saved from drowning on August 25, a youth from Bargarh district was saved from drowning during a high tide on July 30 and a girl was rescued from being swept away by strong current on July 30.
Further, the lifeguards at Puri beach in between April 16 and 20 earlier this year had rescued around 34 people.
