Bhubaneswar: Animesh Pradhan of Angul, who secured the second rank in the most prestigious UPSC examination, had to take on many difficulties to fulfil his mission of being a civil servant.
Pradhan, a NIT graduate said that his journey was very challenging as his mother was fighting against cancer while he was preparing for the top examination of the country.
In the middle of his preparation, his mother succumbed to cancer in last month.
“If I crack the UPSC exam under such circumstances, then anyone can pass it if he/she works hard. Hard labour has no alternative,” Pradhan said who cleared the coveted exam in his first attempt.
After passing his BTech course, he got a job in IOCL in Delhi. He didn’t have much time to focus on study. But, he used to visit various coaching centers and join the mentorship program and practice, he said.
“UPSC preparation was very challenging for me. Because the mother was suffering from cancer. The situation did not allow me to concentrate on study. My mother is no more with me. She would have been very happy to see my success,” Pradhan said.
Born to Aruna Patra and Prabhakar Pradhan of Talcher in Angul district, Animesh started his schooling at Kalinga DAV School in Talcher where he studied till 12th. Later, he graduated in engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela.
