Bhubaneswar: A first-year LLB girl student of a private law university in Bhubaneswar registered a complaint of ragging against her seniors at the Bharatpur police station on Wednesday.
The student hailing from Jharkhand has alleged that she suffered multiple injuries due to severe ragging by three senior students in her varsity hostel. According to the victim, she was repeatedly beaten and tortured for three days from February 14 to 16.
Since she hailed from Jharkhand, the three senior students in her hostel had accused her of practicing witchcraft, the complaint read.
Soon after the incident, the girl visited a doctor, who after examination, said that she had a shoulder tissue rupture, injured teeth, and a punctured chin.
In her complaint, the student alleged that though she brought the issue to the notice of her varsity’s disciplinary committee on February 20, the accused senior students did not appear at the hearing of the committee. Seeing no option, she approached the Bharatpur police and filed a complaint.
The police have launched an investigation into the allegations of the law student but there have been no arrests in this connection yet.
