Balasore: Tension prevailed in Khandapada area of Balasore district today after locals blocked road over mysterious death of a labourer working in a rice mill.

Reportedly, Manuth Barik of Kuradiha under Basta police limits of the district was working as a labourer in Maa Durga rice mill at Khandapada.

He died mysteriously on Saturday following which locals blocked the National Highway 16. As a result numbers of vehicles have been stranded on both sides of the road.

The protesters have been demanding compensation for family of the deceased. They even clashed with police when the latter tried to remove them from the spot.
