Bhubaneswar: The Kamarda police foiled a bid to kidnap a girl at gunpoint in Jaleswar of Balasore district in Odisha on Friday.

According to reports, a youth flashed a gun and tried to kidnap a girl from the Peer Padia area in Jaleswar. However, passersby pounced upon the kidnapper and detained him. A gun and two live bullets were seized from the miscreant.

The locals handed over the miscreant to the police along with the seized gun and the bullets.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the youth tried to kidnap the girl as the latter had refuted his proposals for a love affair. Irked by the refusal, the youth tried to kidnap the girl but his attempt was foiled.
