Locals Thrash Two Criminals After They Shoot Contractor In Puri

Puri: Two criminals were thrashed by locals while they were attempting to flee after shooting a contractor at Subarnapur village under Gop block in Puri district on Wednesday. The duo has been identified as Pintu Swain and Muna Pradhan of Rushipada and Samagara villages in the district.

Reportedly, contractor Umakanta Sahu had recently completed a river embankment project for which the accused had demanded him to pay Rs 20 lakh as extortion. As he denied to pay the amount, they accused visited his village on a scooter and open fired at Sahu when he came out of his house.

Following it, locals overpowered the two accused, tied their hands and legs, and thrashed them black and blue. On getting information police reached the spot and rescued the duo from the mob and admitted them and Sahu to Gop hospital. As Sahu has sustained bullet injuries on both his legs, after preliminary treatment he was referred to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
