Lokayukta Appointment Delay Ignites Din In Odisha Assembly, House Adjourned

**Bhubaneswar: ** While last week of the ongoing Budget Session of Odisha Assembly marked repeated adjournments. especially over farmer issues and tomato distress sale, even the initial day of this week too witnessed uproarious scenes following which Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat had to adjourn the House proceedings till 3 pm on Monday.

The Speaker first adjourned the proceedings of the House till 12.30 pm after ruckus created by Congress MLAs over delay in appointment of Lokayukta.

Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra demanded Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s statement in the House on the issue.

The same demand was made by the opposition BJP also.

Both Congress and BJP members joined hands and lambasted at the BJD-ruled State Government for the inordinate dealy in appointment of the Constituional post of Lokayukta to deal with corruption cases alleged even against the Chief Minister and other big shots in power.

Amid the nagging pandemonium and unable to run the House smoothly, the Speaker was bound down to adjourn yet again the proceedings till 3 pm.

On the other hand, discussion was likely in the Assembly today on adjournment notice moved by Congress on shortage of lecturers in colleges across Odisha.
