Bhubaneswar: Taking cognizance of the allegations of students of Maribada Ashram School under Korukonda block of Malkangiri district, who had jumped the boundary wall of their hostel and walked 20 kilometres to meet the Collector to complain about embezzlement of rice and various problems in the school, the Odisha Lokayukta has sought a report in this regard within six weeks.
As per media reports, the students scaled the boundary wall of the hostel and walked 20 kilometres to apprise the officials that the rice meant for the hostel inmates is often sold out by the teachers and the food served to them in the hostel is of poor quality.
Having regard to the genuine grievance of the tribal students who appear to be victims of malpractice and condition in the hostel, the Lokayukta has issued notices to Malkangiri Collector, Project Administrator, ITDA, Malkangiri, District Welfare Officer, Malkangiri, and Headmaster of Maribada Ashram School along with a copy of the newspaper reports by registered post with AD.
