Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik on Friday urged Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai to ensure the safe release of Vishal Das, son of former Minister Naba Das, and PRI members of Kirmira block in Jharsuguda district. They were detained by police in the neighbouring state.
In his letter, Patnaik stated that Das, along with elected representatives including sarpanches, PS members, and women, were detained by Sareipali police in Mahasamund district, Chhattisgarh. They were supposed to participate in a no-confidence motion on Friday morning but were detained from midnight along with Vishal Das.
Patnaik requested the Chief Minister to intervene and ensure their immediate release, safety, and security while travelling to the Odisha border. Many of the detained individuals are women PRI members.
Vishal Das, along with some sarpanches and samiti members, was detained by Sareipali police, who did not disclose the reasons for the detention. In a video message, Vishal Das confirmed his detention and expressed concerns about the situation.
