Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area has formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and it is likely to move northwestward by October 21 morning and further intensify into a depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal around October 23, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather bulletin released on Thursday.
At the same time, the regional center of the IMD has predicted the likelihood of light to moderate rain and thundershowers in some parts of Odisha during the Durga Puja festivities causing much anxiety among the devotees and puja revelers.
This cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal is not an isolated incident as the IMD has forecasted the possibility of another cyclonic circulation forming in the eastern part of the Bay of Bengal. The low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal may gradually move towards Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure area formed over the southeast and adjoining southwest Arabian Sea on Thursday and may move west-northwestward. It may intensify into a depression over the Arabian Sea around October 23 bringing rain to several coastal regions in India’s west.
