**Balasore:** In accident-prone Odisha, when accidents are reported from various parts of the State on a daily basis, even Lord Jagannath is not spared from it. The chariot of Lord Jagannath met with an accident at Jaleswar when a speeding truck banged into it on Wednesday night.
Just three days to go for the grand festival Rath Yatra, the chariot was under construction at Badabazar in Jaleswar town of Balasore district. The truck lost control and collided with the chariot which was placed on the highway, thereby damaging major parts of the Lord’s chariot.
The locals angered by the incident, detained the driver and the helper of the truck. They were later handed over to the police.
Notably, the whole State is gearing up for the grand celebration of Rath Yatra, with the chariots of the Lord constructed for every Jagannath temple in the State.
