Mayurbhanj: An elderly woman died after a dumper crashed into her house at Purunapani village under Rairangpur police limits in Mayurbhanj district, on Saturday.
According to sources, the mishap took place when the lorry rammed into the house at Purunapani village on National Highway 220. The deceased has been identified as Kamala Patra (65). The debris of the wall fell on Kamala who was asleep when the tipper lorry rammed into the house injuring Kamala critically.
Kamala was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead.
Tension ran high following the mishap as villagers and kin of the deceased held up traffic on NH demanding compensation.
On a tip-off, Rairangpur Town police reached the spot and were trying to pacify the agitating kin of the deceased.
Till the last report came in, the vehicular movement was disrupted from both sides much to the inconvenience of commuters.
