Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area has formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
As per IMD prediction, the system, which developed at around 5:30 pm on January 5, is likely to become more pronounced within the next 24 hours.
Uma Shankar Dash, a weather scientist took to X to share the latest update on the low-pressure formation, stating, “A Low Pressure area has formed in the Bay of Bengal. Within 24Hours it is likely to become more intense. Yesterday, 5 January, at 5:30 PM, a low pressure area has formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean, and it is likely to become more pronounced within the next 24 hours.”
The IMD is keeping a close eye on the system, and further updates are awaited.
