Bhubaneswar: A Low Pressure Area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours under the influence of a cyclonic circulation that lies over west Myanmar & neighbourhood and extends upto middle tropospheric levels, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.
The system is likely to become more marked during subsequent 24 hours and move west-northwestwards thereafter, it added.
The weather agency has also warned of enhanced rainfall activity in Odisha for the next four days.
In the next 24 hours, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sambalpur and Kendrapada.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam , Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi tomorrow i.e August 13.
Similarly, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Nuapada, Bolangir, Boudh,
Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar.
On August 14, heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Angul, Sambalpur, Deogarh with extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) is very likely at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Bolangir, Nuapada and Nawarangpur.
Similarly, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Khordha, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Dhenkanal, and Bargarh.
On August 15, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Bolangir and Bargarh.
Under the influence of strong monsoon flow and anticipated low pressure area with further intensification, Squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph is very likely over North adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast during the next 24 hours and Squally surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph gusting 65 kmph very likely along & off Odisha coast & North adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal during August 13 to 15.
