Low Pressure Area Over Bay Of Bengal To Intensify Rainfall Activity In Odisha From July 18

Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha-Gangetic West Bengal coasts on July 18 and wet spells of monsoon rainfall activity are likely to continue across Odisha with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Sunday.

In its midday bulletin, the weather office has said that Southwest Monsoon has been active across Odisha and widespread light to moderate rain/thundershowers have occurred with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places in

Jharsuguda, very heavy to heavy rainfall at one or two places Jharsuguda, Bhadrak, Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Balasore, Kendrapara, and Dhenkanal districts of Odisha.

The IMD has issued an orange alert for very heavy rain and thundershowers in Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Nuapada, Sonepur, Bolangir, Deogarh districts of Odisha during the next five days.

The rainfall forecast for the next five days is as below:

Day-1 (Valid up to 0830 Hrs IST of 17.07.23): Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.

Day-2 (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 17.07.2023to 0830 Hrs IST of 18.07.2023): Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri and at many places over the districts of rest districts of Odisha.

Day-3 (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 18.07.2023to 0830 Hrs IST of 19.07.2023): Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, Khurdha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nawarangpura, Nuapada and at many places over the districts of rest districts of Odisha.

Day-4 (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 19.07.2023to 0830 Hrs IST of 20.07.2023): Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, South Odisha, and many places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Day-5 (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 20.07.2023 to 0830 Hrs IST of 21.07.2023): Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.
