Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area is likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours due to the remnants of Cyclone Wipha. This system is expected to intensify into a cyclonic circulation, leading to increased rainfall in Odisha, according to the prediction of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
As per IMD sources, a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal on July 23, which may intensify into a low-pressure area on July 24 (Thursday). Under its influence, heavy rainfall is expected in Odisha.
The regional weather has issued a warning, stating that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in several districts of North Odisha, including Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, and Bhadrak, over the next 48 hours.
The IMD has also predicted that the weather system will bring strong winds, thunderstorms, and lightning to several parts of the state, including Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, and Nuapada districts.
The weather department has forecast heavy rainfall at various places in the state until July 28. Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
