Bhubaneswar: On May 5, a low pressure is very likely to be created in south Bay of Bengal, and it would gradually intensify into a depression, Director General of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Mrutyunjay Mohapatra informed today.
“It is not clear, as of now, whether this system will intensify into a cyclone. We are monitoring it closely. However, people need not panic about this and only fishermen need to be careful and not venture into the sea during this period,” Mohapatra said.
The system is expected not to have any impact on Odisha as it would move southward, the IMD stated. Further information on the system will be shared by the IMD as it starts developing.
