Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation has developed over the south Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, which is likely to intensify into a low-pressure system. Although the system is not expected to have a significant impact, it may bring light to moderate rainfall to parts of Odisha, according to the prediction of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The regional weather office has predicted light to moderate rainfall in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Koraput. Some areas may witness light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Winds are expected to blow at a speed of 30-40 km/h in these regions.

Going by IMD prediction, rainfall and thunderstorms will likely occur in various parts of coastal and southern Odisha on April 9 and 10.

On Sunday, Boudh recorded the highest daytime temperature of 42°C, followed by Angul, Jharsuguda, and Titlagarh at 41°C, Balangir and Sonepur at 40.8°C, and Sambalpur at 40.6°C.

The IMD has forecast a 2-3°C rise in temperature today.
