Bhubaneswar: The cyclonic circulation over northeast & adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal (BoB) now lies over the northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood and extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same area during next 12 hours, according to the midday bulletin of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Under the influence of the developing weather system, heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Nawarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri. Also possibly Extremely heavy rainfall(> 20 cm) at one or two places over the districts of Boudh, Kandhamal and Kalahandi, during the next 24 hours.The IMD has issued ‘Orange warning’ for these districts.
Similarly, during the next 24 hours heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur,Cuttack, Nuapada, Kendrapada, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh. Also thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur over the districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Angul, Cuttack, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Khorda, Puri, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, the IMD’s bulletin stated. The IMD has issued ‘Yellow Warning’ for these districts.
In its forecast for Bhubaneswar and its neighbourhood for the next 24 hours, the IMD has predicted generally cloudy sky with heavy rain.
