Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area is likely to form over East-central and adjoining Northeast Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours under the influence of cyclonic circulation that lies over Myanmar & adjoining East-central Bay of Bengal.
It is likely to become Well Marked Low Pressure area and move northwestwards towards North Odisha & adjoining West Bengal coasts during the subsequent 48 hours, an IMD bulletin read.
The cyclonic circulation now lies over Myanmar and the adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal and extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level, the IMD stated.
Under the influence phenomenon, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in several parts of the State between September 30 and October 3.
Thunderstorms with lightning activities are very likely to occur during the period in some places of the State.
The weather department advised people to take safe shelter during the lightning activity.
