Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday said that a low-pressure area is brewing over the Bay of Bengal and Odisha is likely to receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall (115.6 mm to 204.4 mm) on August 18 and 19 under its influence.
“A cyclonic circulation is active over the north-east and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal region. Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation, a low-pressure area is likely to form in the north Bay of Bengal region around August 18,” the IMD regional center here tweeted.
“The cyclone is active between 4.5 and 7.6 km in the atmosphere over the seas of the north-easterly contiguous fore-central Bay of Bengal region,” the IMD added.
