Bhubaneswar: The low-pressure area over Bay of Bengal, which lies as a well-marked is very likely to intensify into a depression over west-central Bay of Bengal by Sunday.
The IMD, in its latest bulletin, stated that low-pressure area over the southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal moved further northwestwards, and now lies as a well-marked low-pressure area over the southeast and adjoining central Bay of Bengal.
“It is very likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a depression over west-central Bay of Bengal by 22nd October. Thereafter, it is likely to move north-northeastwards towards Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts and intensify further during subsequent three days,” the bulletin read.
The weather agency predicted light to moderate rain and thundershower at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara on Sunday. Dry weather is likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
The IMD advised the farming community to complete harvesting activities by October 23.
Under the influence of the well-marked low pressure area and its further intensification Squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 gusting to 65kmph on October 22 over the deep sea area of West central Bay of Bengal becoming 50 to 60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph on October 23 over west central Bay of Bengal.
Sea conditions will be rough to very rough over these areas during the above mentioned period.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the deep sea area of West Central Bay of Bengal from October 22.
Those who are in the deep sea are advised to return to the coast by October 22.
