Bhubaneswar: The cyclonic circulation over Northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining north Odisha-West Bengal coasts extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over the same region during the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast in its midday weather bulletin issued today.
Under the impact of the system, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, and Cuttack during the next 24 hours the IMD said.
The weather agency has issued an ‘Orange’ alert for the aforementioned districts.
Similarly, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nawarangapur, Koraput, and Malkangiri during the next 24 hours.
The IMD has issued a ‘Yellow’ alert for these districts.
In its forecast for Bhubaneswar and neighbourhood for the next 24 hours, the IMD has said that the sky will generally remain cloudy with few spells of rain or thundershower.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts Odisha during the next 24 hours.
Under the influence of the anticipated low pressure system, squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph is very likely over North Bay of Bengal adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal, along and off Odisha coast during 25th June to 27th June, 2023 (Morning).
