Bhubaneswar: Several areas of Odisha are experiencing incessant rain under the influence of an active low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the low pressure is likely to intensify into a depression on Wednesday resulting in heavy to very heavy rainfall across Odisha for the next few days.
The IMD has issued an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rain in five districts of Odisha for Wednesday and Thursday. These five districts include Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabrangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
Additionally, a yellow warning has been issued to seven districts.
Heavy rain is likely over Odisha on July 26, with heavy to very heavy rain likely over many parts of south and coastal Odisha, tweeted Umashankar Das, Senior Scientist, IMD, Bhubaneswar, adding that fishermen have been instructed not to venture into the sea till July 27.
Meanwhile, the weather office predicted that heavy rainfall is likely to continue in several areas across the state till July 29. During this period, the wind speed along the Odisha coast will be 45 to 55 kmph.
