Low Pressure Over BoB May Intensify Into Deep Depression

Bhubaneswar: The well-marked low pressure area over Eastcentral & adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal is very likely to concentrate into a Depression over central Bay of Bengal during in next 24 hours and may further intensify into a Deep Depression during subsequent 24 hours, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday afternoon.

The system is very likely to move west-northwestwards and cross north Andhra Pradesh coast during the forenoon or noon of October 12, it added.

In view of this, the IMD has issued heavy rainfall warning for several districts of Odisha for the next five days. As per the warning, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Ganjam and Puri today.

On Sunday, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Rayagada, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri and Koraput.

The rainfall activity will intensity on Monday with heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Rayagada and Koraput. Besides, heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Bhadrak.

Further on Tuesday, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Gajapati and Rayagada.

Squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 Kmph is very likely over central Bay of Bengal till Oct 12 and along and off Odisha Coast adjoining North Bay of Bengal from October 11 to 13.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into deep sea areas of Central Bay of Bengal from today and into sea along and off Odisha Coast from October 11 to 13. Whoever’s in deep sea areas are advised to return to the coast by today night.
