Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain in Odisha for next three days as a low-pressure area has formed over Bay of Bengal.
“Under the influence of cyclonic circulation over Central Bay of Bengal, a low pressure area has formed over Westcentral Bay of Bengal & adjoining Northwest Bay off north Andhra – south Odisha coasts. The associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height,” an IMD bulletin stated.
Under the influence of the low pressure, heavy rainfall is expected on September 24 in districts like Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj,Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati.
On September 25,Yellow Warning has been issued as thunderstorm with lightning heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh .
The weather agency also forecasted heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) isolated places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur on September 26.
The weather department said, the line of withdrawal of southwest monsoon now passes through Firozpur, Sirsa, Churu, Ajmer, Mount Abu, Deesa, Surendranagar, Junagarh.
