Bhubaneswar: A well-marked low-pressure area over the Strait of Malacca and adjoining south Andaman Sea is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm over the South Bay of Bengal by November 27.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the system is predicted to move northeastwards towards Bangladesh, weakening over the sea and dissipating before making landfall.

Today, the well-marked low-pressure area over the Strait of Malacca and adjoining south Andaman Sea is set to intensify into a depression.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on November 28. However, no warning has been issued for Odisha, and the potential cyclone is not expected to have any impact on the state.

The IMD also issued no warnings for fishermen along the Odisha coast for the next five days.
