Bhubaneswar: The upcoming Ganesh Puja celebrations in Odisha may be affected by adverse weather conditions as a low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal.
According to the weather forecast, under the influence of low-pressure heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in various districts of Odisha from August 25 to August 29.
As the Ganesh Puja celebrations are just around the corner, the adverse weather conditions may dampen the festivities. The preparations for the puja, including the decoration of pandals and the installation of idols, are in full swing, but the rain may pose a challenge.
The weather department has predicted heavy rainfall in various parts of the state, which may affect the celebrations. The rainfall may also impact the sales of puja-related items, affecting the vendors and traders.
Meanwhile, the regional weather office has issued an orange warning to districts of Rayagada and Gajapati districts and yellow warnings to 10 other districts today. The active cyclonic circulation is expected to bring heavy rainfall and thunderstorms to the state.
Odisha received significant rainfall on Monday, with varying amounts recorded across different cities. Paralakhemundi received the highest rainfall at 24.6 mm, followed by Paradip at 19.8 mm. Bhubaneswar recorded 17.5 mm of rainfall, while Jagatsinghpur received 13.2 mm. These rainfall figures indicate that the state is experiencing a spell of wet weather.
