Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its special bulletin issued has warned heavy rainfall in Odisha in the next 24 hours and the next days as the well marked low pressure area over westcentral Bay of Bengal is likely to concentrate into depression by tomorrow and further into a deep depression during the subsequent 24 hours.
As per the weather forecast, heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Ganjam and Gajapati districts for tomorrow. This orange warning for the two districts mentions possible impact of water-logging in low-lying areas, landslides in hilly area, damage to kutcha house and informal road, and traffic disruption in urban areas.
Yellow warning has been issued for Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Balasore, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri districts as heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts.
From Thursday to Friday, orange warning has also been issued for Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore as heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted.
From Friday to Saturday, yellow warning has been issued for Gajapati, Khurda, Cuttack, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Dhenkanal districts as heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over these districts.
Squally weather with wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph is likely along the area of coastline over the coastal districts of Odisha during 22nd – 23rd October (Thursday-Friday).
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast from tonight to Saturday.
