Cuttack: In a crackdown on LPG black marketing, the district administration on Thursday seized 55 cylinders from a residential premises in Khan Nagar, even as the Collector directed officials to maintain strict vigil to ensure uninterrupted supply of cooking gas to the public.
Acting on the instructions of District Collector and Magistrate Dattatreya Bhausaheb Shinde, enforcement teams intensified raids across the district. During one such operation, a squad seized 55 LPG cylinders—48 domestic, five commercial, and two 5-kg cylinders—from the house of one Ranjan Kumar Sahu in Majhisahi area.
Officials said the action was part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal hoarding and diversion of subsidised LPG cylinders. A complaint has been lodged against the accused at the local police station, and further investigation is underway.
The Collector has directed the District Supply Officer and staff to keep strict vigil and take stringent action against individuals or organisations involved in black marketing, warning that such activities will not be tolerated.
The administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring that LPG cylinders remain easily accessible to consumers without disruption.
