Bhubaneswar: The famous Maa Samaleswari Temple and other religious institutions will re-open for public worship from January 3.
The decision was taken at a meeting held in the District Magistrate’s office in Sambalpur today.
The meeting attended by representatives of various religious institutions was chaired by Commissioner of Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) Anirudh Pradhan.
It was decided at the the meeting to re-open religious institutions in Sambalpur with strict adherence to Covid protocol.
It was decided at the meeting that in the event of violation of Covid guidelines in any religious institution, liability will be fixed against the person in-charge of the management of the said institution.
The demand for re-opening of other religious institutions in the State had gathered momentum following the decision to re-open Jagannath Temple in Puri and Lingaraj Temple here.
The State Government had left the decision for re-opening of religious institutions for the public at the discretion of the district administration and municipal administration after an assessment of the local situation with regard to Covid-19 pandemic.
