Cuttack: Investigations into the prostitution racket of Bangladeshi girls in Odisha’s Cuttack have led to the arrest of a couple. The accused arrested by the Madhupatna police have been identified as Om Prakash Choudhury and Jasmine Choudhury.
According to sources, the couple reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation. The police have collected important information and evidence related to the crime following scanning of their mobile phones and call records.
In her statement to the police on Sunday, the 16-year-old Bangladeshi girl revealed the names of five agents, including two women, who allegedly forced her into flesh trade. She reportedly disclosed the addresses and contact numbers to the police.
It is worth mentioning here that the Madhupatna police rescued the victim on the night of November 9 when she was roaming in the Link Road area in Cuttack. Initially, the girl was handed over to Child Care, which informed the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
On its part, the CWC sent a report on the matter to the Cuttack DCP on November 23revealing that the girl was brought from Bangladesh to India by the accused on the false promise of employment. She was later forced into prostitution, the report said.
