Konark: Prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC has been clamped at Chandrabhaga beach in Konark in view of the Magha Saptami holy dip tomorrow.
Prohibitory has been imposed to prevent the spread of Covid-19 as thousands gather for the holy dip every year.
The district administration has barred the public from taking the holy dip in Chandrabhaga. However, the deities of Lord Tribeniswara, Lord Aisaneswara, and Lord Dakhineswara will take the holy dip as per rituals.
“The main area comprising of the sacred pond and its surrounding areas where the normally the devotees congregate-the whole area is covered under 144. The entire area has been barricaded. Even arrangements have been made to prevent entry in the outer cordon area,” informed Kanwar Vishal Singh, SP, Puri briefing newsmen here.
Police will ensure that prohibitory order under section 144 is not breached, he added.
“Nearly 14 platoons of security personnel and 60 officers including one Additional SP, five DSPs, and 150 home guards have been deployed broadly in three parts-first to ensure that there is no inconvenience caused to the public which includes regulation of traffic, second is the entry of people coming in the procession along with the deities and third is blocking of entry points to prevent the entry of people from nearby areas,” Singh said sharing details of the police deployment.
