Bhubaneswar: ‘Mandal Pujan’ rituals for ‘Maha Yajna’, the ceremony ahead of the Puri Srimandir Parikrama Project inauguration on January 17, began on the parikrama premises in Odisha’s Puri on Monday.
The Maha Yagna begins with the worship of God Surya and is followed by Yagna Mandap Pradikhan, Toram Puja, Dwarapal Puja, and Dhwaja Puja.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the Rs 800-crore project, which aims to offer smooth darshan of Lord Jagannath and his deity siblings Devi Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra at the Puri Srimandir.
All government offices, schools, and colleges of the state will remain closed on that day. The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration has invited representatives from 90 religious shrines and institutions across the country to attend the function.
Today, also being the Makar Sankranti, hundreds of devotees visited the Jagannath Temple to witness the Maha Yagna and have a darshan of the Holy Trinity.
