Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths arrested Siba Mallick, OAS, Tahsildar of Mahakalapada in Kendrapara district, for possessing disproportionate assets to the tune of 190% of his known sources of income.
Mallick was found to have accumulated assets including four buildings, seven valuable plots, deposits of Rs 18 lakh, and cash of Rs 1.55 lakh, which he failed to explain satisfactorily.
A case has been registered against Mallick and his spouse under the under Sctions 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 PC (Amendment) Act,2018.
This action follows a trap case registered against Mallick on September 23, 2025, where he was caught demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant. He had demanded bribe for helping the complainant in eviction of an illegal structure over government land obstructing the passage to his (complainant’s) house.
Simultaneous searches were conducted at locations connected to Mallick, revealing the disproportionate assets.
