Mahanga Double Murder Issue Raised In Odisha Assembly, BJP Demands Pratap Jena’s Arrest

Bhubaneswar: The Opposition today raised the Mahanga double murder issue in the Odisha Assembly during zero hours today.

Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Pradipta Naik raised the issue and said that the law and order situation in the State has deteriorated.

Despite Minister Pratap Jena being named in the FIR in the Mahanga double murder case, the police have not arrested him, he pointed out.

He alleged that the government is protecting Jena. He further said that how can the law be different for the ruling party and the Opposition.

Naik drew the attention of Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro to the issue.

BJD MLA from Chandbali Byomkesh Roy countered the allegation made against Jena and said that the allegations are baseless. He said it is nothing uncommon for political leaders and Ministers to be named in FIRs.

The BJP today took out a rally from its State headquarters to the Odisha Assembly demanding Jena’s arrest and resignation from the post of Minister.
