Puri: The ransacking of earthen ovens at the kitchen of Puri Jagannath Temple was unfortunate and is likely to affect the preparation and availability of Mahaprasad for devotees.
Collector Samarth Verma said, “This is an unfortunate incident which has occurred late on Saturday night. Niti Administrator and Additional SP (Security-Temple) are conducting an inquiry.”
The cooking and availability of Mahaprasad at Anand Bazar will be slightly affected due to the damage to the Chullahs in the divine kitchen, said Verma.
“We are putting in all efforts to ensure that the rituals are not affected and Mahaprasad preparation is normalised as early as possible,” he added.
On Saturday night, a group of miscreants vandalised at least 100 chullahs in the Rosa Ghara (kitchen) of the Jagannath temple here. The matter is being probed and steps are being taken to repair the damaged ovens, the district administration stated.
