**Paradip: ** Noted businessman Mahimananda Mishra skipped his scheduled four-day police remand on health grounds. The police had to put his remand on hold due to his worsening health condition. Court had allowed four-day remand from December 29.
Now the revised remand period granted by the court is from January 1 to 4, 2017.
He was arrested from Bangkok along with his aide Basant Bal on murder charges of Seaways Shipping general manager, Mahendra Swain. After the Kujang magistrate denied his bail plea he was taken to Samagol jail in Jagatsinghpur district. His remand was to start from Thursday.
Earlier on Wednesday, both Mishra and Bal were admitted in the district headquarters hospital (DHH) here as their health conditions were not well. Bal was even shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack whereas Mishra was taken back to the jail after treatment.
On the other hand, Congress leader Bapi Sarkhel, another accused in the murder case, was admitted to the cardiology department of the SCB Medical College and Hospital after he complained of chest pain on Wednesday. He was again sent back to the Choudwar circle jail following treatment.
