Sundargarh: After a tense four-day standoff, Mahulpada police in Sundargarh district successfully apprehended Dhani Munda, a youth who had been terrorizing the local community with bow and arrows. Munda had taken over the Badajala school building, threatening to shoot anyone who came near him.
The ordeal began on Saturday evening when Munda climbed onto the roof of the Badajala school, armed with bows and arrows, and started threatening people. He allegedly attacked the school’s headmaster, injuring him on the head, and escalated tensions by shooting an arrow at the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Mahulpada police station on Tuesday. The arrow struck the IIC’s hand, resulting in his admission to the Government Hospital at Bonai.
After several attempts to disarm and apprehend him, the police were finally able to capture Munda on Wednesday, bringing an end to the siege that had gripped the area.
The injured IIC and the headmaster are both reported to be in stable condition. The police are investigating the incident and the motivations behind Munda’s actions.
