Bhubaneswar: Flight service between Bhubaneswar and Utkela in Kalahandi district of Odisha commenced on Thursday with Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik flagging off the maiden flight.
Union Minister Scindia joined the event virtually through videoconferencing.
Scindia and Patnaik also inaugurated the newly constructed Utkela Airport on the occasion.
Flagging off the maiden flight service to Utkela, the Chief Minister took to his X handle to write, “Glad to flag off first flight between Bhubaneswar and newly inaugurated Utkela Airport in Kalahandi district. The airport has added yet another golden chapter to Odisha’s aviation sector. It will boost connectivity, commerce & tourism, fulfilling the aspirations of the people of the region.”
A 9-seater IndiaOne Air flight took off for Utkela from the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar at around 10.30 am.
As per the notification on the airline’s website, the flight service between Bhubaneswar and Utkela will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The ticket price for each passenger has been fixed at Rs 1049.
