Malkangiri: In a breakthrough, the Border Security Force (BSF) has recovered a large cache of explosives, arms, and Maoist materials from a hidden dump in the Bejangiwada Reserve Forest area near Dayaltungi village under Kalimela police station in Malkangiri district, on Friday.
Acting on specific intelligence, a special operation was conducted by BSF troops on Friday from the Company Operating Base (COB) Bodigetta and the THQ 142 Bn BSF. The operation resulted in the seizure of a massive quantity of explosives, including steel tiffin IEDs, gelatin sticks, and other materials used for making IEDs.
The seized items include two steel tiffin IEDs (approx. 3 kg each), 62 gelatin sticks (125 gm each), 1 binocular (dilapidated condition), two Exide batteries (12 Volt), 11 synthetic belts, 39 camouflage caps, 52 whistles, one Maoist banner (red, in Odia), three Maoist pamphlets (in Odia), 26-star shoulder ranks, 1.5 meter-long electric wire, eight electric plugs, one electric 5-pin wall socket, one steel pot (20 litres), five antenna ground planes (Radio), one printed circuit board and one shoe (right piece).
The Bejangiwada Reserve Forest area has been a stronghold for Maoist cadres and their sympathizers, who have used the region for sustenance and as a base for operations. The recovery of these materials has dealt a significant blow to Maoist activities in the area and will demoralize their sympathizers.
