Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown, Lathor police in Bolangir district seized 1,319 kg of contraband ganja and arrested three individuals on Sunday.
According to reports, police officials received a tip-off about a pick-up van loaded with contraband ganja, en route from Kandhamal to Nuapada district.
Upon receiving the news, police officials swiftly sprang into action and raided the pick-up van smuggling Ganja near Jhilialiti village, under the jurisdiction of Lathor police station.
The police officials have seized 13 quintals and 19 kg of contraband ganja, along with the pick-up van and a motorbike. Police also apprehended three peddlers involved in ganja smuggling. The estimated value of confiscated Ganja is about Rs 40,00,000.
An investigation into the matter has been initiated by the police officials.
