Bhubaneswar: A major fire broke out in the medicine godown of Boudh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Odisha late on Wednesday night reducing medicines and electrical equipment worth several lakh rupees to ashes.
Although the precise reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that an electrical short circuit inside the godown triggered the fire.
On being informed about the blaze, Fire Services personnel arrived at the hospital and brought the fire under control after several hours of effort. Though the fire has been completely extinguished, it reduced medicines and equipment worth several lakhs of rupees to ashes.
Fire Services officials at the hospital said that they suspect an electrical short circuit caused the fire, which spread to adjoining areas quickly.
There is, however, no report of any casualty.
