Mayurbhanj: A major fire broke out at the regional office of the Bank of India at Baripada in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Monday.
According to reports, the fire broke out at the canteen on the bank premises and spread to other areas. While the actual reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the fire started from an LPG cylinder leak.
Several staff and customers were present in the bank when the fire broke out. Three persons, including a woman employee, were trapped inside the bank when the fire broke out. However, they were rescued safely. It is suspected that a few others may be trapped inside the bank.
Two fire tenders were rushed to the bank to bring the fire under control and rescue those trapped inside the building. Eyewitnesses said that rescue operations became difficult as dark smoke engulfed the building.
