Bhubaneswar: A massive fire broke out at a cloth shop in the underground market at Bhubaneswar Unit I market on Thursday late night reducing property worth lakhs to ashes.
According to reports, the entire area was engulfed in dense smoke caused the by the blaze. On being informed, Fire Services brought the inferno under control after a long battle. Initially, they were unable to enter the underground market due to the dense smoke, but managed to get inside after breaking the ventilation duct.
Ten fire engines were deployed to douse the fire. The circumstances under which the fire broke out are not clear. There is no estimate yet of how many shops and properties have been damaged inside the underground. The Capital Police has also been deployed at the spot.
