Jeypore (Koraput): In a setback to the outlawed Maoist organization, the SOG today busted a major Maoist dump and seized huge quantity of arms, IEDs and other articles from a forest near Kodaput and Gumudaput under Machhkund police limits in Koraput district.
On a tip off, the SOG launched an intensive search in the general area under Machhkund PS jurisdiction bordering Koraput, Malkangiri, Andhra Pradesh.
A pistol, 14 ammunitions, 17 tiffin bombs including eight big size, 50 metres codex wire, two detonators, one steel pot were seized, police said through a release.
It is suspected that these articles were intended to making target civilians and security forces.
“This is a major jolt to the subversive and anti-national design of Maoists in this area. We suspect that these explosives along with other articles belong to the Maoists cadres of AOBSZC and they were intended to be used against innocent civilians and security forces to carry out their subversive, anti-national activities and to show their presence again in this area,” police said.
Further combing and search operations have been intensified following the seizure.
