Make Telemedicine Fully Functional To Reduce OPD Load: Health Dept To Hospitals

Bhubaneswar: In view of present COVID-19 situation in the State, the Health and Family Welfare Department has directed Government hospitals and Medical Colleges to have fully-functional tele-medicine facilities.

In an order to the main hospitals and all Government medical colleges, the Director of Health Services stated that all facilities should make arrangements for a 24/7 control room for coordination of telemedicine services.

The medical facilities will need to make roster arrangements from the pool of faculties, specialists and medical officers to ensure uninterrupted service.

A committee may be formed in each district and medical college and hospitals, Capital Hospital, and Rourkela General Hospital headed by a nodal officer who will coordinate the telemedicine service, the order stated.

The Health Department has directed further to have the phone numbers of nodal officers and service provider at the control rooms for better coordination.
