Malkangiri: People of Malkangiri town celebrated the auspicious Ram Navami festival on Thursday amid gaiety and brotherhood. Demonstrating a unique spirit, people from different religious communities joined their Hindu brothers and sisters, to take part in the festival.
A peaceful bike rally was organised to observe Ram Navami in the town during which people from all walks of life and communities came together at 10 am in the morning. From Bhairav Temple to Ram Mandir, the rally proceeded via Bus Stand, Subash Chowk, and ODNK Chowk.
On the occasion, the bikers were greeted by Muslim brothers with ‘Sharbat’ and refreshments. To mark the festival, a Muslim youth, inaugurated his shop, which was a very heartening sight. Malkangiri MLA Aditya Madi inaugurated this shop and appreciated the gesture.
“Hindus, Muslims, Christians and people belonging to all communities live together peacefully in Malkangiri. Our town exemplifies Brotherhood and secularism,” a group of youngsters said. Today evening, people from all walks of life participated in the Ram Rath yatra which started from Bus Stand and went to the Ram Mandir.
Other parts of the district, such as Kalimela, Gobindpali, Kudumulugumma, Balimela and Mathili also celebrated Ram Navami with great enthusiasm.
