Malkangiri: As Odisha Administration has tightened up its belt to destroy illegal ganja plantation, especially, in the remote pockets and hilly terrains, the District Excise and Police teams today launched a joint operation.
As per reports, the operation was led by Malkangiri Excise Superintendent Ashok Kumar Seth.
They conducted raids and destroyed 71,400 ganja plants spread over a sprawling 51 acres of land under Chitrakonda Police Station (PS) limits in the Swabhiman Anchal here in the southern Odisha district.
The operation was executed at Nakamamudi, Siddhiguda, Ramguda, Khadikajodi and Daiki-2 villages under the jurisdiction of Chitrakonda PS.
Apart from the Excise staff, the police staff headed by Chitrakonda PS IIC Surya Prakash Nayakand participated in the joint operation against the illegal ganja plantation.
