Bhubaneswar: The maximum day temperature soared to 41 degrees C today at Malkangiri for the first time in the current summer season.
The mercury also crossed 40 degrees C at three places today with Boudh and Titlagarh simmering at 40.5 Degrees C each. Bolangir came next at 40.2 degrees C while Nayagarh witnessed the heat wave at 40 degrees C.
Bhawanipatna was simmering at 39.8 degrees C while Jharsuguda witnessed 39.3 and Paralakhemundi recorded 39.2 degrees C. The temperarure hit 39.4 degrees C at Nuapada.
Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 37 and 37.6 degrees C respectively.

The regional Met department has predicted the maximum temperature to remain between 38 to 40 degrees C at many places over the districts of interior parts and 36 to 38 degrees in coastal parts during next four to five days.
Similarly, minimum night temperature is likely to rise by 3-3 degrees C during the next four-five days at many places in Odisha.
Warm night conditions will continue to prevail in interior parts of Odisha during the next 4-5 days, the met department said in a bulletin.
